Here I show images of prehistoric granaries and/or cliff dwellings to be found in many canyons.

The term "rock art" stands for prehistoric rock carvings or rock paintings. Distinction is made between "petroglyphs" (incising, carving or picking rock surface) and "pictographs" (pictorial drawings on rock surface), relating to the ancestors of today´s native/indigenous population. They are supposed to be sometimes more than thousand years old.

Their amount of potential information, though, is difficult to decode or to be associated with their exact meanings, respectively, and may be misinterpreted. They originate from native Anasazi, Shosone, Sinagua, Yuman, Hohokam, Ute, Fremont, Mohave, Paiute or other former inhabitants of these nowadays arid environments.
